Default In search for a retierment truck

I am a long time Ford owner.
I getting ready to retire am looking to purchase my last truck for my retirement I been looking at 2009 and newer F150 4X4.
I am leaning towards the 5.0 Coyote engine but still looking at the 6.2.

I like the MPG of the 5.0 but I hate being underpowered so that's why I also looking at the 6.2 no turbo want keep it simple.

Like I said this should be my last truck so I looking for the motor will last.

In the 70s and 80s we were driving big displacement engines in trucks that got terrible fuel mileage and really did not produce the horsepower we are seeing today.
Big displacement does not equate to longevity or power.

Now that said, the current 5.0 V8 produces 395hp and 400ft/lb of torque...which is no slouch.

Depending on what you plan to use it for only you can answer that question.

As for longevity...I thought that my 5.0 would do that but It looks like thats not going to happen with the engine rattles and all the other ticks and knocks and oil consumption these new 5.0 engines are experiencing.

Maybe the 6.2 is the better engine...

I had a 3.5 eco before with tons of power and my current 5.0 has plenty of power as well.
I just wish it didn't sound like its about to blow up.

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here. I've had a 5.0 V8 in all my last four f150s, 2011, 2016, 2017 and my current 2019. I've had Zero issues with any of those engines including my current 2019 with the 5.0. Granted I don't have many miles yet on my current 2019 (build date 1-30-19), but the engine runs perfectly and has used no oil whatsoever. The 10 speed transmission is smooth shifting and I really enjoy driving the 5.0 and 10 speed transmission combination. I also had no problems with the 6 speed transmission in any of the earlier trucks. Plenty of power with the 5.0 also, I don't think you will be disappointed. Good luck with your search.

I'm right behind you on the retirement...within the next year. I've got the 5.0 and it's been one of the best engines I've owned. Best sounding engine of the bunch. No replacement for displacement... lol.
