Well i took it for a test drive and was really impressed, and ended up buying it.. There is a ticking noise but im sure its coming from underneath the truck, like from the exhaust.? Anyone here have this experience before or know what the problem could be.. Thanks again and long live the F-150.....

This would be best asked under the 97-03 group. That's where you'll find most of the guys with mechanical issues for your model truck posting, and therefore most of the expertise will also be there. You may also want to post in the General F150 Discussion group. A lot of guys here have been driving F150s for decades, and may have owned a truck like yours previously. Best of luck and welcome to the forum.

Probably exhaust manifold leak, had to replace both of mine, sounded like a diesel for a while till it got fixed, also could be EGR tube.
