Old to Ford, New to the F150
Greetings, My name is Johnny and im from Houston Tx. I currently have a 99 F250 7.3l Powerstroke however I am looking to get a 04-08 F150 single cab in the next couple weeks. I work as a 18 wheeler mechanic and have made a living working on everything from atv's to Manitowoc Cranes. I know my way around a engine bay but I will need some technical data. I have looked at a few trucks so far and one question I have is I have noticed two v6 engines had rear main leaks. Is this common and is there a definitive reason for it? Excessive crankshaft end play or just a bad factoy seal design? You are probably wondering as to my plans for the truck. I would like to do a 2.5 level with a 1" block in the rear and run 33's, with a ring and pinion change of course. Maybe a cai, programmer and catback exhaust. If I get a v8 I may just do an electronic cutout on the downpipes to open the exhaust fully. Aftermarket radio and pretty much call it done. Also if I get the v6 will it be reliable turning 33's if I get the ring and pinion changed or will it just be a turd? I have seen plenty of jeeps and rangers running 33's I just want to make sure the 6 in the F150 can handle it. Thanks ahead of time, I look forward to stepping into my new truck.
