hey everyone cool site you have. my name is tim i live in indiana this is my first truck im in the prosces of getting an 87 f150 4x4 reg cab 8ft bed with 302, c6 rebuilt trans and rebuilt borg warner 1356 tcase, all in all im paying $500 for the truck all it needs is a starter and battier has 152k miles, im a long time ford fan as my dad is. how hard is it to change the starter in these trucks? and the truck sat for a good 6 months would it be safe to start it after getting the starter and battier put in? my brother has a 91 f150 extended cab 4x2 with a little over 400k original motor miles. i know a little bite about working on trucks i took some classes plan on being a full time mechanic. thanks guys in advance.

fordfanatic, Starters aren't hard to do unless it's not to accessible. Basically you need to disconnect the battery and then the cables on the starter. After that just unbolt it and install the new one. As far as starting it after sitting, I would definitely change the oil and filter first. Post up some pictures when you get it

I'm not sure, I haven't had the opportunity to do one on a f150 yet

Most all the starters I've replaced only had 3 bolts on them.

Looks like it's got clearance lights on the cab, I've been thinking about adding them to mine
Congrats on your new to you truck. My first truck was a 85 Ranger base model 4 cylinder with a long bed.
