New in Texas

I'm not quite a new F150 owner yet, but will be very soon. And it will be my first ever pickup truck. I have come here to the forum for the same reasons that I joined forums for all my previous vehicles. Because knowledge is power, and the enthusiasts who own and drive any specific model of vehicle can offer lots of great information to us noobies.

So the vehicle that I'm working a deal on right now is a 2012 F150 Lariat with about 80,000 miles. It's a Super Crew in Bronze with Pale Adobe leather interior and a 5.0.

I was going to ask if there's a thread somewhere with abbreviations and common acronyms used on this forum. I kept seeing one in particular that is used a lot - screw. But as I wrote the description of my potential vehicle, I think I just figured out that it's short for Super Crew. LOL! But I'm sure I will find more the longer I'm here!

I have a few other concerns buying a used vehicle approaching 100K miles. I've already dove into a few threads and have been reading about oil consumption, SYNC, poor headlight performance and others. Any additional suggestions for some good beginner threads for my year range will be greatly appreciated. I plan to tow, haul and otherwise use my truck for the purposes it was designed for. Which is why I need to give up my beloved Audi A5 coupe...

So I'll see you guys and gals around. I'm typically a pretty active forum user, so no reason why this one would be any different. Happy Trails!

N2TG.

2/12/19 - UPDATE: So the dealer with the Lariat was dragging their feet, so I went to look at a different truck - and I bought it!!! So I am now the proud owner of a 2014 King Ranch Screw Kodiak brown with a 5.0. Very, VERY happy. I've always drooled over that King Ranch leather. I actually can't wait to drive to work tomorrow! LOL!

Welcome to the F-150 forum! Glad to have you join us.

Have any fun performance modifications planned for the truck?

Thanks. Yes, definitely thinking about mods. Not familiar with what's available, but interested mostly in mods that would help, or at least not hurt fuel mileage. I put a lot of miles on my daily driver, so gotta watch the fuel costs. I would probably start with intake and exhaust.
