I just found this forum after purchasing a 2004 XLT with the 5.4. I only paid $2,000 for it as it had bad cats. I replaced them with the Walkers and although the oxygen sensor locations weren't the same, I was able to modify the heat shield a bit. The prior owner removed the muffler so I replaced from the catback with a flowmaster force II kit. It sounds pretty good and runs well. I hope to keep it for a while...seems to be a good running truck for what I paid.

We will see. I'm used to buying these types of trucks. Usually I find there's hundreds of $50 repairs due to neglect over the years. The motor runs strong and there's no body damage. All in all, I'm happy.
