Hi To All,
First I would like to thank everyone for their posts especially regarding the 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboost engines. I have been reading these starting about 2 years ago when the 2.7 eb came out in the F150's.
This is my first truck. Previously, I had an Audi A4 1.8L Turbo with Quattro.
I absolutely loved the car however, I didn't like the expense involved with maintenance. Since my job requires me to do a lot of travel, both air and driving, I racked up quite a few miles on my car. Unfortunately, when i purchased my F150, I gave the Audi to my son who decided to impale it on a tree. (Totaled)
Anyway, I never owned a pickup truck but always enjoyed borrowing my fathers truck to haul firewood, furniture, lawn materials etc.
I decided two years ago that I was going to get a pickup. My wife said I was going through a midlife crisis. (Why do you need a pickup truck in New Jersey?)
Since I have no loyalty to any brand, I tried each one. As I mentioned before, I travel quite a bit and I would rent a different pickup each time. I would have it for a week or more and really get to feel it. I drove the Toyota Tundra, GMC Sierra, Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram, Nissan Titan and even a Honda Ridgeline. I was not able to dictate which engine was in the truck but comfort, handling and interior noise were all deciding factors.
I settled on the Chevy and Ford. They passed the first test. I did like the Tundra (3rd Place) but too many people (tundra owners) told me that they had problems especially with the bed rusting. Some brands were easy to eliminate others not so easy.
I read posts on this forum and on the Chevy forum.
Now I had to choose a style and an engine. Chevy mainly had 8 cylinder engines and they we ok. Then I tried the Ford Ecoboost. That is where this forum was very helpful. (Thank all who posted on the 3.5 vs the 2.7 again!)
I don't have a trailer or boat. I have used my truck to haul firewood and other items for family. You have to remember that I had an Audi sportscar, I drive a lot so i have to say the 2.7L Ecoboost was an easy choice for me. Once I tried the 2.7 eb, i knew this was the right engine. Peppy, quick off the line and great gas mileage made it a winning combination for me.
I absolutely love my F150 2016 XLT 4x4 SuperCrew Sport. I have had it for 1 full year (Purchased May 10, 2016) and I don't regret it. I have put 18k miles on it, change the oil every 4,000 miles (dealer) and keep it clean and have waxed it 4 times already. No problems so far.
I have never had so much fun with a vehicle (except my 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 4 speed with a 440 engine when I was in college 35 years ago).
Right now I feel I will never buy a car again. I appreciate all the various threads on this forum and it truly helped in my decision. Wishing you all many happy miles in your F150's!
Sincerely,
Dave (Limp_Cactus-I collect cacti as a hobby)

Sounds great Dave, bet you wish you still had that E-Body nowadays.

Anyway, welcome to the board as an owner now, if you have any questions feel free to ask without hesitation and lets see what we can do for you!

HI FranchimotorSports,
I wouldn't know where to start. Any recommendations?
Dave
