Default New here, new to me 05 Screw, not new to fords

Hello everyone,

My name is Jared. I picked up a new to me 05 5.4L Screw today. Not really new to Fords though. Had an 05 in college but got rid of it to pay off my wife's car loan. She got rear ended and totaled her car. With that she let me buy my dream truck. I personally like the 04-08 body style the best. Out other vehicle is a 1977 Ford F100 that my dad bought brand new, and it looks like the day he bought it. I'll post pics of it tomorrow when it's light out. Anyways back to the new baby. It's a XLT with 95000 miles. Right when I bought it, I went and got everything to change the oil and spark plugs except the broken plug kit. I ordered one that will be here this week. It's pretty much stock other than a level kit, moto metals and toyos. My first mods to be done are a Gottsmod with a k&n, a magnaflow, and a edge programmer. Thy be done within a few months. I do have a question. I can get a magnaflow from summit for way cheaper than the local shops but the installation kit uses bolts. My old 05 I had it welded on. Should I get it welded together or is the bolt together ok? I'm just making sure I won't get any leaks with the installation.

Welcome! You got a great truck there. I agree on the body style. Looking forward to seeing that f-100.

I have a welded MF exhaust on mine, so I can't comment about the bolt-on, but I will say that the 3" single exit sounds badass. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I also am going to pick up some black plastidip for the wheels. they have some minor rusting on them so I'm going all black with them. I'll post pictures of the finished product.

Ok looking around I really like the Stormtrooper build. I'm not a huge fan of chrome so I was thinking I would paint the rockers, flairs and bumpers as well. Gonna mull it over for a while. But just in case, does anyone know how to get the chrome plates on the rockers off?
ETA: also black the emblems and bug guard. I think all the chrome's gotta go.
