It was stinking hot this morning. Loaded up the truck with a ton of stuff, including bags for a 2 day weekend, food to feed us and a family of 4 that were coming to meet us at our cottage. Was sweating through my t-shirt being in the box of a black truck trying to adjust a black tonneau cover in 107 degree sun. Finally finish, pack everyone in... and head out.
We got about 30 minutes out when the traffic came to a stand-still. Truck starts bucking and choking like its gonna stall. Go to neutral, couple shots of gas... seems ok... back to drive, advance a couple feet... entire engine is knocking, shaking, RPM's super low, touching the gas is hit of miss if it will go or stall. WTH.... take the next exit, go to a parking lot. Stop. Sounds fine. Open the hood, listen, super quiet... get back in, start driving, first stop sigh, pok pok pic pac puf burp...
Now we have people meeting us there that already left... we're 30 minutes into a 1h30 drive... what the heck do we do?
Decided to come back home. Originally the plan was to take both my wife's car and the truck, and if there is a problem, at least I can have it towed and drive back in my wife's car. Got home, could barely crawl back into the driveway. Won't idle, fighting with it to stay running...
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!
What the heck could it be? I would almost say it sounds like it needs a tune up, like new plugs... but why does it run fine one second and like crap 2 seconds later?
I have a 30-day return on it... they are closed tomorrow because of a Canada day weekend, but I will be back a the dealership on Tuesday asking for a fix or a replacement.

I have a 24 MB video... are there any sites I can upload it to? Maybe someone here can listen to it and help decipher what its doing exactly. I suppose I could create a YouTube account?

That sucks !
Glad you were able to make it back home.
The only way I was able to share videos was thru You-Tube.
My guess is it's fuel or spark related....... but with all the electronics you can't be sure without some diagnostic testing.
Did the check Eng. light come on ?
That would be the 1st place to start......reading the codes.

That's the funny thing, I was sure a code would have immediately popped up but no check engine light.
I will look into the you tube thing... should I start a new thread for this?

Probably should put it in the 2004-2008 section...you would get more views & be with people with the same trucks

Thanks fellas. Since they are painting the hood, I figured I would order a hood bug deflector, as well as a tonneau cover.
I don't have the truck physically with me so I can't measure, but generally if you shop and say 2008 Ford F150 with 6.5' box, the tonneau should fit right?

This is exactly how you would order with Real Truck! All our options are made to custom fit each F150 option from the factory. The measurement is taken from the inside to inside of the truck bed from the bulkhead to tailgate.
Depending on what you're looking for we do offer some exclusive forum pricing on select tonneau covers to members. Would you like some more information on this via private message?
