I needed a truck for hunting or hauling trash to the dump so a friend had a 2005 F150 XLT extra cab 4x4 5.4L that he was going to sell so I bought it. I like the truck but I am slowly rebuilding it one part at a time. No worries it does have 195,000 miles on it and this stuff just happens over time. I do enjoy working on it some but money can be an issue when buying parts and fluid all the time. So far since I've had it I've done the following to it:
Replaced Rack & Pinion for front steering
Replaced rear pinion bearing and seal
Replaced front brake caliper on passenger side (should've done both)
Replaced brake pads on both front wheels
Replaced u-joints on front drive shaft.
Currently trying to find out if my 4x4 is working. Seems mine is locked into 4x4 and will not go back to 2H so might have a vacuum problem but don't understand the vacuum system to know how it works to diagnose it. That is one reason I joined this forum.
I look forward to learning more and cruising this forum.
