Hello there
I am a new 2019 F150 2.7 XLT 302A 4x4 Screw owner. Aside from what seems to be a lazy 3 up shift when its cold, its been excellent.
I am a Navy Veteran, 2003-2007 USS Abraham Lincoln, Aviation Mechanic 3rd class.
I work in aerospace
Homeowner
Father to one daughter
Happily Divorced
And a deer hunter.
Thats about all there is to say about that....

Great to be here. I lurked for a while. It took me almost 2 years from the moment that I said I wanted a new truck, till I finally got one.
I stayed away from the Rams as I have had a few Dodge trucks in the past and back then they were just cheaply made. That may not be the case anymore, but I just couldnt see myself in one. Also, I dont like the coil spring rear suspensions they have. Thirdly, I am not a fan of the 5.7 hemi.
The Tundra is a gas hog. I didnt like the way it looked.
I test drove a few GM's as I have usually been a GM man. For the advertised horsepower on the 5.3, it was and outright dog. You really have to lay into the gas pedal to get it to move, and it felt like you could meaure the 0-60 times in calendar days. Though I understand the cylinder deactivation has gotten more reliable over the years, it doesnt appeal to me. Lastly on the GM's, the Silverado is a rather ugly truck, especially the 2020's. At least I think so.
The Ford seemed to have all the features that appealed to me. The exterior of the truck has not drastically changed for quite some time. And to me theres a good reason for it: The F150 is sexy. Unlike Ram and GM, it seems like Ford has moreso gotten with the times. A small displacement forced induction motor really appeals to me. I reviewed the design of the 2.7 more times than the pope read the bible. It looks to be a solid design. It looks like they took all the lessons learned from the 3.5 ecoboost(which was and is a decent motor) and improved upon the 2.7. Ford is essentially staking their whole reputation on the 2.7 powered F150.
I bought my truck from the dealer lot, I didnt order it. For the most part it has what I wanted. Only thing that is a little annoying(besides that awful start/stop) is that they didnt put LED headlights in an XLT. Even my girlfriends Nissan Altima has LED's. I wanted a sunroof, but thats not that important.
When I test drove a few different 2.7's, I was blown away by the power, nearly off idle, as opposed to the V8 trucks, especially the GM 5.3.
The center console shifter just seems right, ergonomically the truck seems right, it rides well and I regularly get over 20mpg on the highway doing 70mph.
The room in the super crew is great. And though the bed is small at 5.5 feet, it was big enough for my ATV that I use for hunting, and the dead deer I threw in there next to my ATV. It does what I need. The e-locking rear diff is sweet, I prefer that to the auto locking diffs of the GM. The sport package adds some sexiness to an already very good looking truck, and the power sliding rear window is a nice treat too.
I dont know if I will keep this truck for over 5 years or trade it in. But so far, the next one will definitely be another F150 ecoboost.
