Default New 2012 Platinum...How did I do?

Hi all,
I am proud to report that I just purchased a new 2012 Platinum with 55 miles on the dash from a dealer here in Houston. The truck is black ext with steel (grey) int and it is 4x4 with Nav, etc. Sticker was $51,947 and I got it for $38,947 + ttl.

I think I did alright considering it was a 2012 and the dealer was getting hit already with 2014's so he put a big discount on the truck and I was able to get another $1100 on top of that.

Anyhow, glad to be on the forum! Can't wait to do something to this truck! Just need to figure out what it will be....

Probably going to start out small....All-Weather floor mats, sun visor, spray-in bedliner.

What do people typically do to a Platinum? It came with 20" chrome wheels so I feel like I should wear those out before replacing. Also, it has 3:55 gear ratio so it really would need to be regeared for bigger wheels & tires. That said, any recommendations?

Trey in Houston

2012 or 2013???
People get this kind of rebates off of 2013's these days, so i hope it's just a typo...

either way, congrats on the new truck !

Please ignore the guy above me, he just loves raining on people's parades. You will NOT get a fully loaded 2013 4WD Platinum for $13,000 off sticker price. The most you will see is $7-8,000 maybe, but no where near $13,000. Please check your facts.

To the OP, that is very good for a new 2012. I was able to get a fully loaded FX4, same year, for a little less than yours, so your's being a Platinum, makes sense for the minimal price difference. Good job!

haha, i dont "love raining on people's parades", and honestly if he's happy i'm happy.
when i was looking for a truck here, i could get a 2013 for roughly the same as a 2012, thats all... the "extra" year wasnt worth the small difference.

so maybe i'll go check my facts now

again, Congrats on the truck, those Plat's are sweet trucks whether in 2012 or 2013!

Default Actually

Actually I debated on posting this thread in the first place cause I already knew I did well on the truck. I just couldn't think of anything else to write about and I need to get my cred up in order to utilize the classifieds. Truth is, I had been working 4 dealers for my business and had been looking and looking at FX4's and Lariats, I had dealers competing for my business, etc. and then I located the few new 2012 Platinum's in the marketplace and after negotiating the price as best I could, I called three dealers and asked if they could compete and nobody could come within $4,000 and that would have been a fully-decked out Lariat, not a Platinum.

Anyhow, I'm happy to have gotten more truck than I thought I was going to be able to afford. The Platinum's are sick. Hell, F-150's in general are sick. Solid truck for a reason.

Glad to be here gentlemen. Very glad indeed.
