I just picked up a 2006 XLT with the 4.6 V8. Busy tracking down a number of gremlins. Most are the usual suspects (odometer, PVC, etc.) but am having a bear with the what I think is the evaporative system. I'm having a faint gas smell very once in a while upon starting the engine. I've seen a couple of similar postings but no solution. (Turned out to be a loose spark plug and bad coil. Always check the basics!)
