Hey from Northern Va.
After being on an 8 year Hiatus from any Fords, with a Nissan Titan and finally an Armada, I've come full circle.
I've been poking around autotrader.com, cars.com, etc... for about a month now, looking for something and I found myself coming back to the late model F-series every single time. I had narrowed it down to either a Tundra or F-150.
Today I pulled the trigger on a slightly used 2012 F-150 Bronze King Ranch and I must say Ford hit a home run with the interior. As a previous owner of quite a few Fords I'm familiar with their styling.
Nissan just doesn't seem interested in competing fully in the full size truck division and Toyota tried as hard as they could to make their interiors look as cheap as possible. They succeeded and the powertrain alone was not enough to convince me. My wife was very impressed with the layout and quality of materials and so was I. Couple that with the power train and it seems Ford did their homework on this one.
As I have been reading up on the new EB engine and with so much electronic wizardry inside (I have the NAV, etc...) I opted for the bumper to bumper warranty extension and even the maintenance warranty as well. My background was in auto repair as an ASE master mechanic but that ended 20 years ago. Things have changed so much and it's time to let someone else get dirty
I'm impressed how quiet this thing is. Other than the slight whoosh of the waste gates opening the engine is difficult to hear other than the ticking of the injectors which is muted.
I'll be doing minimal modifications, mostly cosmetic to protect the paint but a toy or two may sneak its way in on occasion.
Let's see how this plays out. I'm looking forward to it. Sorry for the long winded post...
