Hi everyone:
I'm new to the forum and I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Ontario and I bought a 96 F150 about a year ago and which is a second vehicle and used mostly to pull my boat short distances. About a week ago, during a snowstorm while pulling into my snow filled driveway, my accelerator linkage stuck and I ended up grazing the side of my garage with the left front headlight, signal light unit. The complete unit is broken and has to be replaced. Can this whole unit be replaced from outside the grill or am I going to have to remove the battery and remove screws and bolts from inside the engine compartment? Thanks in advance for any help that you can give Me.

Hey Bri96,
Welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about the attack on your garage by your truck!
I'm not the one to answer your question but just hang in there and i'm sure one of the many guru's here will help!

Take care,
Bill T.

Thanks for the reference Ty!

Yes, I just replaced my turn signal lenses for clear ones recently. Here is a brief description of what you need to do to replace any part of, or all of the unit.

"You raise the hood and look down past the headlight portion. Just below that is where the turn signal is located. You may not be able to see the bolts very well, but they are located to either side of where the turn signal bulb installs. I believe it was a 7/16 socket, you will need the deep socket to get over the bolt to reach the nut. Once you have removed the nuts, you will need to remove the 2 screws that hold the bracket to the truck. They are located at the top of the bracket in the same area the grille attaches. When you have removed the screws, the assembly will push out of the truck. You can then remove the bulbs from the assembly and proceed to replace the turnsignal portion.

If you look at the pictures, I posted, of the complete assembly(in my thread), you will notice there are 3 screws along the bottom that hold the turnsignal to the bracket. There is also a nut that attaches a black bar to the corner lamp portion. "

On the passenger side, I was able to get the work done without removing the battery. I did remove the battery tiedown so I could lean it back a little to get my arm in to work.

Here is a link to my post, page 2, where I show a front and back view of the assemble, minus the headlamp. The parts shown in the pics are attached and come out as 1 unit. You can find all of the parts needed to replace the entire assembly on eBay.

Good luck!
you can respond here, or send me a pm if you have any more questions.

The lights are on their way, as is a new billet grille and Euro taillights.
Pics will be posted, of course, once all the work is done.
