Introducing myself
Hi all,
I'm new to the site. I had an account on here long ago, but have since lost/forgotten login stuff and figured I would start fresh with a new account. I also have a different truck.
I'm 28, in the Air Force, and live in Albuquerque, NM. Name is Sean. My truck is a 2008 XLT supercab 4x4. 155,000 miles. I have owned a 2010 XLT not long ago, bought new, but since having a daughter, did not feel a $550 monthly payment was wise.
I am currently in pretty deep with my truck. Developed a pretty bad knock coming from the bottom/front of engine as well as a tick that has been going on. I have many pics and notes from this Cam Phaser lockout job I am doing. I am not a mechanic, but have enough knowledge to tackle something like this. I don't know if this topic is over done or talked about too much, but I would like to post a thorough thread with this whole project paying close attention to the problems I ran into and how I overcame. My tool selection is limited as well as my space. You should see how I have my truck in my little one car garage working on it. I know a lot of DIY guys with about the same amount of experience as me would appreciate this write up if i can get all the pics and stuff posted.
Let me know what you more experienced guys/gals think. This is an awesome forum so far. I love it. Looking forward to spending some time on here as I am over ambitious and have many jobs I would like to tackle. Cleaning up and painting valve covers, better air intake, spray in bed liner, suspension raise, and possible other bolt on stuff getting replaced or cleaned up (many parts in my engine look rusted and old)
