coming from a chevy that was actually expected. 4a is and awd mode on ford trucks. "Two-speed automatic four-wheel drive system with Neutral Towing Capability (4x4 only)" is how it appears on the build and price and manual. it is not the same as say a subi or audi or evo. it only transfers up to 50% power to the front for traction ect. mostly for use on paved roads in bad weather.

http://shop.ford.com/build/f150/?gna...4K.59S.85P.%5D raptor with torsion and led
http://shop.ford.com/build/f150/?sea...WD.446.LAR.%5D lariat with sport pkg. has to have 501 for sport.

if you set them both to show 75 month finance the payment is just a few more bucks for the raptor.... yes that is what happened and why i got the random upgrade lol.

The problem is I'll never find a Raptor for 55k. I really like the F150 the styling and like to build my own truck, the Raptor is nice though. Good to know about the AWD, I had no idea. So that's only available in the Lariat and more $ models?

yes 4a starts on lariat. comes on raptor in 2017. also platinum, limited and king ranch. also i know alot of places still have the markup on a raptor. but that will be changing soon. just remember get what u want without compromise. especially on a raptor lol.
i mean u could find a perfect 5.5 bed truck that is non raptor and say nope cause u want the 6.5. or if you go raptor make sure it is perfect. i refused to have a sunroof. lol. i wouldn't have traded in my old truck if i had a place for it and a need for it. the truck was perfect for us. our wants changed.

I'm not a fan of the sunroof either, I never use them in my cars. I guess I will have to go to a Ford dealer and weigh my options. I just like the longer bed the shorter bed reminds me of a Honda Ridgeline for some reason.

I will price out what I want then find out trade in after I'm done dealing.

I just spent some time looking through the lifted thread here and I have to say, screw with a 5.5' bed actually looks really good, better than Chevys. I'm sold, should make for an easier inventory search now.

Just need to keep this truck manageable. My current truck build consumed me which I can never do again. Moving to a new brand is exciting though, a lot to learn and absorb.

lol i know the feeling of being consumed. i think it is why the wife decided the raptor was a good fit for us. been watching and researching suspension upgrade for the 14 for about 6 months. when she realized i was looking at spending 10-15k on making the 14 ride smooth offroad the raptor became alot more viable. we said that the only way we would get one is if i found one that was the exact build without ordering it. we also had a limit on what we were willing to spend too. netted out to +200 a month in the budget. but extended the payments by 3 years. i have already got the bed cover and bedrug per her request. and only need some ridged lights to make it a perfect dd and weekend toy. oh and need to tint it like my old truck. so only about 2k total over a few month in mods is all i think it needs.
from just the pics of your chevy i can see u spent a grip over the years in personalizing and upgrading it. that is why i suggested maybe finding a 17 raptor. pay upfront and finance it. by the time it is paid for, you may decide to do a lil upgrading if you decide to go extreme with it.

Wait, so you have a 17 Raptor? I thought you just had a Lariat or other model with the 802A package. You lucky dog. No wonder you were trying to rationalize getting a Raptor. I do like to customize and personalize my rides. I suppose when you spend a lot over a period of time mentally it seems like less even though it works out the same lol. I spent over 30k in mods, one-offs and installations on my truck. So I do see your point!
