Default I'm making the switch... Chevy to Ford

Hy guys, I've been a Chevy Silverado owner but I'm going with a Ford F150 for my next truck.

I had a heavily customized, very clean and low mileage show truck, an 07 Silverado. I'm trying to part out so I can get the most $ for it since I spent an exorbitant amount on it and am getting screwed on resale and/or trade in.

The F150 intrigued me, especially the twin turbos, so I'm anxious to get into a 2017 or maybe a 2018.

On a more serious note, 5 months ago I suffered an unexpected brain stem stroke at age 49. I have a two beautiful females in my life, an amazing wife and a 3 year old that made it through a miscarriage and was born 3 months premature at 2lbs7oz. So I have a lot to live for.

I'm lucky or blessed depending on how you look at it to be alive, or not paralyzed in a wheelchair able to move just my eyelids. Brain stem strokes are one of the worst fatal strokes you can get. I had trouble swallowing, very bad balance (would fall right over), double vision, numbness on half of my body and face..among a few other things. I have made an amazing recovery so far albeit not 100%, but I'll never stop trying as brain plasticity is remarkable and will be ongoing. I'll be recovering for the rest of my life.

I have come a long long way through a lot of hard work and support. I've basically become a nutritionist and a health nut, have changed the way my family and I eat, the products we use. I have lost 35lbs, down to 215 at 6'2" since the stroke, so I'm in the best shape I've been in many years.

In a way there has been a lot of good to come out of this awful experience my family and I had to go through. And now I'm ready to start a new chapter with a new truck, but I cannot do the extreme things I did to my previous truck. It consumed me and I spent way too much time and money on it and never drove it. It's time to have a nice truck, but this time drive it, enjoy it and spend more time with my family.

I'll share a few photos of what I'm leaving behind...

It's good to be here

Welcome to the F-150 boards, glad to have you join.

Any fun performance or visual modifications planned for the truck?

Thanks, yes, but I cannot go too crazy, I need this to be my daily driver this time.

Wheels, tires, a small lift and possibly COs.

Just not sure what would be required to fit 33 ATs on an F150, Chevys need at least 3" of lift to fit them comfortably.

Thank you dlbb. Well I already starting stripping the truck down, as shown was asking 24k, 2007, 5.3L and only 39,800 pampered miles, yes it's 4WD.

I'm in NJ. Once stripped the truck will have the rancho lift, 3" BL, 20" OEM Chevy Tahoe wheels freshly powdercoated in a black texture, nearly new 35" mud tires, new long travel rear shocks, polished diff cover, 4.88 gears. For that I'm going to ask 19k, dealership already offered me 19k on a trade in.

wow man. u didn't get a bite at 24k? if you had been closer to so cal it would have disappeared fast at 28k or so. and as nice as the truck is my buddy could never convince me for that long of a road trip lol. has nothing to do with u, the truck, or my buddy, i'm just past the long road trips for awhile.

btw i am a ford man, but not a hater. i appreciate all things with motors, even if it isn't what i spend cash on. so what specs u looking at for a new ford?

I hear ya, I don't like long drives. Yeah people are cheap, what can I say. But they'll buy a dealer lifted truck with cheap production parts for 60k.

I def like color matched front ends, so the sport package (not the SE). Just torn on the 5.0, the 2.7 or the 3.5 with the 10 speed, or do I order an '18 with the 5.0 and 10 speed? Screw, center console, and 6.5' bed.

My friend who has a '17 Chevy with the 6.2 he tried talking me into is insisting I get at least a Lariat with the LED headlamps but they're so $, just to get the LEDs. I don't mind cloth interior, haven't seen one up close.

Oxford white or Ingot silver for sure, most likely white.

lol if you read my sig u can tell i may have expensive taste...........
i say a lariat minimum if you are going 4wd again. for only one reason. 4a is awesome in the rain or worse wet weather. it is the baseline that 4a comes on. wanting a screw 6.5 you may have to order anyways. they are hard to find. i have the 10speed. and had the 6speed. both are fine to me. i never had the option of the 5.0. on my 14 i had the option of 6.2 or 3.5eb. the 3.5eb served me well for 45k miles or so. the 17 only comes with a 3.5ho. i am not knocking the 5.0. i have drove them. they actually got better mpg then my 3.5eb. i drove a 17 xlt with the 2.7 too. it is a fine lil cruise truck.

Sorry for the ignorance but what's a 4a?

Very helpful info thanks for sharing, magnetic is sinister, also love grey, but looking to go light this time, I really like white with black and gold accented forged wheels.

just for chuckles i will point out that if you forgot about the 6.5 bed....
lariat starts at $46,645
raptor starts at $52,250. about 6k more lol. the only issues is finding a raptor base crew at msrp or lower.......
