How I Found You
Hi Lenn,
Hope I am doing this correctly, I am not sure of my way around yet. I live in England at a place called Farnborough, Hampshire. Ive just bought a 2004 Ford F-150 SC 4.6 2v made at Norfolk Virginia. (Zavoli LPG Fitted)
I have the dreaded ticking noise coming from what seems like under the car behind the front wheels, not so easily heard standing at the front of the car at the radiator.
I did various Google search's and it always seem to take me back to your forum, I found some really good information and based on what your forum allowed me to discover I will be working through the ilimination of the noise thus.
1. Correct Oil & Oil filter (Ford recommend 5w-20w but I see people have different advise about this.
2. Check / Replace All 8 Coil packs & plugs.
Hydraulic lifters, rockers etc.
Then check through Timing System, guides, tensioners, oil galleries.
exhaust gasket leak
The 2x aluminium overhead rails would not have come out without the advise that I found on this forum or linked from this forum.
I had to remove the headliner and all the seats and carpets because the last person must have smoked in it and the headliner stank! In my experience if you want to stop a car smelling of cigarette smoke everything needs to come out and be cleaned. Even all the metal inside the cab once the interior is out. (Fresh as now)
I only bought the thing last Tuesday!!! 16 of Feb. You just dont see these trucks here in England. I love it and when you love something you just want it 100% right and F-150 forum should get me their.
Sorry its turned into a bit of an essay, but just like to say some great advise out there, thanks.
John
