Default Help!!

Hello from Tennessee. This is my first post. I grew up the only girl in a family of mechanics: my dad, 4 brothers, 2 uncles and a cousin. I have a good general knowledge of mechanics and can fix a few things and have. But I need SERIOUS HELP. I have a ‘97 Ford F150 with the 3rd door on the passenger side. The previous owner took off the door cover because the inside door handle was broken off short and couldn’t be accessed. So therefore, when I needed to open it, I had to pull the cable, which was hanging loose, and pull the accessible door handle when the passenger door is open. This has been working fine until I could reattach the cable correctly. BUT an idiot that should not have been in my truck to begin with, did not know what the hell he was doing and now the cable has totally come loose from the rod that works the door handles AND NOW THE TOP DOOR LATCH WILL NOT RELEASE FROM THE FRAME!!! I have taken the rubber molding loose to better access the mechanism and have tried everything but dynamite to get it to release. And that has caused the main passenger door to not close snugly and the door is gapped from about where the main lock latch is upward. Anything you can offer will be appreciated. I’m just tired of getting wet when it rains.
