Hello from Oklahoma
Hello everyone!
I'm new to the forum (82+ post so far), but it really looks like a great place to hang out. I am married and have two children both boys. One 16 and one 21; both still at home (the 21 is still in college).
This is only my 2nd Ford, the last was a step side in 1992. I remember it well it was an Electric Red XLT Lariat step side. It had a 5.0 L V8, 3.55 axle 4X2 with a Electronic 4 speed Auto with P235 / 75R x 15 tires.
I had it five years and never had any trouble with it. The person that did buy it had the tranny go out, but then again they were pulling trailers outside it's limits.
I have had a lot of cars and trucks in my 49 years. I'm not a mechanic and only have a fair knowledge of the inner workings of the truck, thus my interest in joining the forum.
The trucks I have owned in the past were:
1. 1968 Chevy 1/2 ton Red with a 327 - only problem every was a break line.
2. 1982 Chevy Silverado with a 305 - Dallas Cowboy blue and silver - all kinds of trouble
3. 1985 Chevy Silverado with a 305 - Dark Blue - Kept losing wheel bearings.
4. 1978 Chevy 4X4 with a 350 - no problems
5. 1978 Chevy 1 ton Double Cab with a 454 - replaced the transmission once, no other problems - this thing was a beast. Used it to pull a 32' Fifth Wheel - never knew it was back there.
6. The 1992 Ford mentioned above.
7. 2002 Dodge RAM quad cab - only problem was heater core.
I actually put more miles on the Dodge than any of the other trucks, and it was a good truck for me. It didn't have the Hemi, but I never needed it.
8. 2012 Ford F150 Platinum 4x4 with EB. - This is the most expensive truck I have every purchased. I opted for luxury vs off road because I plan on using it for a vacation vehicle. So far I have been very pleased.
I really like the looks of the new Ford better than any other vehicle, and the new engine choices were a big plus. The ride is better than an Escalade, GMC, Chevy, RAM, Toyota, or Nissan IMO anyway, and I don't think any other truck can match it.
The only mod I have done was add a BacFlip F1Tonneau cover, and the Sony Base MOD under the rear seat.
The truck was exactly the way I wanted it so that was great for me.
Now.... I am eying a RAPTOR come 2014, and that will be heavily modded.
Well that's a little history about me. Really I'm new to Ford, and hope to have a long happy relationship with them.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here, and hope I can add some value to this site.
Please excuse me if I ask some dumb questions.
So there it is... Great to be here!
