Hello from Miami, FL
Hello All,
I am a former F-150 owner who's about to rejoin the ranks. I am going to get the 2011 model, but cannot decide on which engine to get.
5.0 seems like a good engine that is going to have a ton of upgrading options (superchargers, etc.)
6.2 with that much HP and torque seems like the power right now choice
3.5 EB looks like it will have decent numbers
My use is mostly light duty, but I do occationally throw some stuff in the bed. I tried compromising previously and not driving a pick-up, but I hate to be the guy who asks other people to borrow their truck. It seems like you need it more often when you don't have it.
Anyways, I don't have my boat any more so that's not an issue, but I do occationally pull a flatbed trailer at work. It's not a everyday or even every week thing, so durability shouldn't be that big of an issue.
What is really important to me (and probably to most of you) is that the truck MOVES! I am coming out of a 2008 GMC Sierra Denali with the 6.2. The only reason that I got that particular truck was because of the engine. I much preferred the F-150 for everything else, but that engine was awesome. Now that Ford has updated the engines, it's time to come home to Ford.
What do you guys think? 6.2 for power now? 5.0 and wait for the upgrades? 3.5 EB seems like it's probably the best fit for me because it has comparable HP and torque to the 6.2, but will waste less gas when I'm not flooring it. I'm definitely no "save the whales" greeney, but no need to waste unnecessary money, right?
I appreciate any advice you guys can give.
THANKS!
