FORD GIRL saying hi!!!

hello im a 19 year old girl and I loove ford trucks. (lots of attention from the boys too

....... just wanting to meet some other ford lovers!!! so hii!!! but anyway, i got a new (to me) 84 f150 stepside, and i have a couple quick questions, i have a 300hp 302 i want to put in it but will the stock auto tranny hold that much? and is this posi? also how much does it weigh? thank you!!!

In a truck that age if its an auto then no I would not put 300hp in front of it unless I had it rebuilt with some go fast goodies, IE Kevlar bands, extra clutch in the pack, trans cooler, hardened input shaft, stronger servo. A good build on a 3 speed auto should run between 800.00-1500.00 depending on how much is done to it. If its an AOD transmission then a good build may cost up to 2k., but its worth it. Do not skimp on the transmission. I doubt its a posi. Maybe a traction lock. You have to crawl under the truck and hope the tag is still on the back of the unit. If it is it will read something like this 3.73L 8.8 Or 3.73L 9 IS it a front loader or does it have a removeable cover on the back of it? Weight is relative. That should be in the sticker inside the drivers door. GVW if it breaks it down front axle and rear axle on the sticker just add them together. Welcome to the board and good luck.
