Am getting 14 MPG towing 4K pounds (open trailer with small race car and crap in the bed). This is in hilly Connecticut and New York state. Is this normal? I'm driving around 68-72 MPH.
First service at 2200 miles was uneventful. (It was manufactured 6-17.)
My complaints about hesitation fell on deaf ears. They found nothing in a test drive.
My only complaints is the dead spots when accelerating. Sometimes it seems it doesn't go when I am going around a corner somewhat slowly in a low gear.
To revue, It has hesitated on me many times. To me, it seems like an eternity for the engine to respond and speed up or respond to a throttle pedal change.
The truck can be cold or warm, but usually it's warm and usually it occurs when I ask it to accelerate or I get back on the gas. It has done it dozens of time, but is unpredictable. It's as if the throttle body doesn't open right away. It doesn't seem to be related to how much gas is in the tank and I'm often going straight when it happens. I have also felt like the Nanny controls have kicked in to prevent me from accelerating around corners a number of times at a slow speed when I am still turning but get on the gas. I don't believe this hesitation I'm concerned about is a safety interference by the computer. It is somewhat similar though.
Otherwise, and usually, the truck runs great and drives well. The tranny shifting is a little harsh when cold. I've also had a few serious "clunks" as I've slowed but not quite stopped and resumed, as in a rolling stop.
That and I think it's dumb and antiquated that I cannot set a temp, see the temp and the heating/cooling system maintain it.

Welcome to the F-150 forum! Glad to have you join us.

Have any fun performance modifications planned for the truck?

Not at the moment, but I might have my arm twisted. I like and use Full Race products. I believe they have lots of stuff that would apply to it. I'd at least do a tune/chip if it would resolve the hesitation / severe lag it has on occasion.
