First post, first truck.
Hello, I just acquired our families FIRST truck.
My wife found a very well taken cared of Red 2004 Ford F150 STX SuperCab 4X4 at a Chevy dealer:jester:. Try as I might, I couldn't pass up the truck based on the price and condition, especially when compared to the other tucks of this same year and condition locally. My wife liked it because it was "different" than her Smart car...... We are only the second owner, and the truck has 152K miles. It was always garaged, and saw some light duty as the bed has some sort of rough liner that has scratches and such. The paint is in good shape with some small chips here and there and only one small ding on the drivers door. We got it as a replacement for our dying/ dead 2000 Dodge Durango that had served us well for many years. Unfortunately, the cost of repair exceeds the value of the Durango and was even more than the cost of this truck. We paid $5600 for the truck. It's not 100% rosy, as when I had it inspected I confirmed that one of the lower ball joints is going out and it needs new rear rotors. The brake pads themselves are 100% brand new, but the tires will need replacement. I will be replacing the rotors (paid $60 for new rotors from the local Autozone) this weekend. The lower ball joints are being replaced Monday for $300. The Tires and Alignment is going to "sting" at over $840. This will be done Monday as well after the ball joint replacement. The car was advertised as $7500, then was a web special for $6000. I offered $5600 and they accepted my offer. Even with what I'm putting back into it, I feel it's still a decent deal. Everything works: ice cold AC, Heat, CD changer radio, but the truck lacks power locks, window and rear view mirrors. All the original manuals (in the mint condition case) AND original window sticker were still in the glove box. This truck listed for over 30K in 2004!!!:help: The previous owner had added some vinyl "flame" decals down the side of the truck that I absolutely hated. I guess they were recently added, because I tested a small part and it came off fairly easy with minimal glue residue. I was very concerned about paint fade, but took the chance because the parts I took of were easily cleaned with no evidence of the decal. I got brave and peeled all off it off and to my surprise, the paint fade was very, very minimal. SO minimal, it took just a quick spray of glue remover, followed by wiping down with Windex and topped off with some Miguires polish. Not only did the red color appear to deepen a bit, but you really really have to be about 5" from the body to even get a hint of the flames decal and then only in the correct angle. I'm hoping the sun will even it put and I will do a better cleaning with some clay and polish later. I'd post pictures, if once I figure out how it's done. Anyways, I look forward to learning about this Ford, and servicing it as opposed to the Toyota's Dodges I'm so familiar with. Sorry so long winded! |

Thank you for the welcome!
Just a reply to share a few pics of my truck. Nothing special, just very clean and one owner. The only thing at this point I would change externally is I would want to add OEM wheel flares to go with the black lower color scheme. |
Nice looking truck! I just purchased my first f150 as well! A red 05! congrats! sounds like a good price

Hello, new here with a question. I have an 07 F150 Roush stage 3 with less than 50k miles and in excellent condition. Signed and stamped #7 of only 8 made. No idea how to value my truck. Any suggestions? Thank you
