Post Average Joe - 2012 F150 Eco-Boost

Hey guys,

Been a while since I have joined a new web forum...
It's kind of like starting in a new school. Especially since I have so much to learn.

I just ordered a 2012 F150 Eco-Boost. Should have it in 6-8 weeks.
My truck was fairly specific, so I have to have it built.

I forget the details on the truck other then it's a crew cab, short box, off road package, with a sunroof. I will remember the rest when I have the build sheet in hand.

A little bit of my Truck history
When I was 16, I had a 1979 F150. This was one of my favourite vehicles in my driving history. I loved this truck, but it met it's fate in a ditch during a bad Canadian Storm
At 17, I had a 1980 F100 Step-Side. I drove the SNOT out of this truck, and it loved every moment of it. Eventually sold it as 17 year olds can't normally afford fuel on a modified V8.
Then, I spent the next 15 years in cars. Mustangs, Camaro's, etc...
Now, at 32, I'm back to my truck. This is where the new 2012 comes in.

A little bit about me.
I own/operate Average Joe's R/C, an Off-Road R/C track and hobby shop in St Catharines/Vineland, Ontario (www.averagejoesrc.ca). I have been doing that for a couple years now. With my race team, we have to do a lot of travelling around Ontario and Quebec, and soon down into the states.
R/C is my hobby, my business, and if you ask my wife, my second marriage.

This truck is going to help me travel around with a trailer on the back and a bunch of smelly R/C guys in the back to all of the weekend events all over.

The future of my truck
Well, stock is only stock for so long. I'm already looking into a modest lift, some new rims and tires, as well as a bully bar, off-road lights, and a box cover.
From there, no ideas. And suggestions?

1st welcome to the site 2nd I think you made an exelent choice both in truck and forum. just drive the snot out of your new truck I think you will find it has more snot than you can drive out of it even when left stock. 3rd if and when you consider mods keep in mind this is a very complex and fairly new system and ford is getting very pickey about warenty vs. mods and these new computers store a lot of info. search this site for a thread titled " so you want to add a tuner to your ecoboost it contains the actual TSB relateing to mods and warrentys. Good luck with your new ride

Thanks for the Welcome guys.

One of my best friends is a truck tech at the dealership that I bought it from. I will be clearing everything with him before it get's installed to make sure it's not going to impact my warranty. I bought the 7 year warranty, so I don't plan on ruining that.

So far, I'm in love with this forum. I spent a good part of the evening last night reading about levelling kits and suspension/body lifts. Lots of great information that is helping me spend even MORE money. HAHA.

In the end, this is my daily driver, but also my advertising truck. I'm going to have it wrapped in a vinyl advertising my business, but as a part of the business I need to take it off road now and then.

I'm still counting down the days.

My custom plates came in. Now I just need the truck.
