Default 4x4 swap 1989 f150

I'm trying to do a 4x4 conversion to my 1989 XLT Lariat f150 single cab long bed, it has the 5.8 in it and a c6 transmission. I have been looking at getting a 96 f150 4x4 parts truck off of craiglist for $500 with everything I will need to do the swap but I have a problem and don't know how to do some things with the newer model.

First it has a different transmission, either a AOD or E4OD auto, that means it will have overdrive and im wondering if that transmission will work with my current truck? Like I know it will bolt up fine but I'm not sure about the electricals and if it'll work with my computer?

Second does anybody have any experience with putting push button 4x4 into an older truck that normally would have a manual transfer case and a shifter in the floor. I can't imagine the wiring being that hard but i don't know where to put the button and everything and I'm just wondering is it not easier to just cut a hole in the floor and have a manual TC.

Thanks ahead of time any info is very appreciated!
