Default 2017 f150 xlt fx4

Hello All,

Wanted to throw my introduction out there. I jumped into the Ford pool for the first time, had always purchased GM products to date. This is a new to us truck that had 10,000 miles when we received it.
What sold it for us was the cab space, we're coming from a GMC Acadia and needed towing capacity and interior space with our 3 kids. So far we are quite pleased, just took a 200 mile tow trip and the truck handled well. Looking back on it, maybe I should have looked closer at the gear setup on the sticker (3.31) but i think things are adequate for our 23' foot TT. I locked out 6th gear on the thruway and ran in Tow Haul Mode, felt comfortable at 65MPH. This truck has the 5.0 Liter V8.

Looking forward to participating in this forum moving forward!

From what i've read on here about towing, I should have went with something higher then 3.31? I'm no gear ratio expert, from what I understand that is a ratio for better fuel mileage and less torque? I'm not complaining, I tow our camper maybe 10-12 weekends a year, and not very long trips. This particular weekend was my first ever tow on an interstate.

A higher gear ratio such a 4.10/4.11 might be better if in the future you're running larger tires, but from what you've said it seems like you're pretty happy with what you've got running currently. A more cost effective way to help with the fuel mileage is a simple tune!
