Default 1st Ford 4WD

This my 5th 4 WD vehicle, but my first Ford. I have never had this issue with any other 4WD's; Is it normal for the rear wheels to lock up in a turn. I was moving some furniture around to my basement so I put my truck in 4WD so I would not tear up my yard, but when I turned left the left rear wheel locked up and dug a trench as I made the turn. The right wheel did the same when I turned to the right. Any ideas?

Welcome to the site.
What year Ford and how is it equipped?
I suspect that the Ford was just marking it's territory.

When making short turns in 4 WD, the tires will catch and slip like what you experienced. It is normal.
