1986 says hello
Just joined because I wanted to be in with a group that appreciates/loves the F150. Just got mine. 1986 XLT Lariat, aka The "Red Rider" because "it's the greatest gift that I ever got or would ever get"- if you are familiar with the movie Christmas Story. It's also two tone red & white.
I am not too familiar with DIY auto maintenance but figured that this is the place to learn and ask questions from those who know tons more than me. I look forward to learning from you all.

1986 "Red Rider"
Here it is. Sorry if the photos are large. I am not good with this stuff.
The truck has 48,000 or so miles on the odometer which I was told are the only miles on it. The former owner had it for three years and only drove it every other week to the dump and added 3K miles on it. The owner before only added the same number of miles. It has a 5.0 EFI 302 V8 and it looks all original to me. Seems to run well but shifts a little rough and the steering is really "squishy". But I love the thing and have wanted a 1980's F-150 since I was a teen in the 1980's. (Better late than never).
Here it is. Dual tanks but the front one does not work. Will have to figure out why.
As you can see, the paint is fading on the bottom. Not sure why. It has a little rust in the very back but I think that I can get this fixed this Spring.
