Getting close to picking up my 15 Lariat and want to start things off right with a nice detail.

After I wash and clay, I was planning on using a sealer and then Collinite 845.

What sealer would y'all recommend to use with the 845?

I know this is subjective...

No need to clay new paint and 845 IS the sealer.

Have you checked to know if you need to clay? After a good wash, take your hand and lightly pull it across the paint, is it gritty? You can also try to use a plastic baggie trick, put your hand in the bag and drag it across the paint. If its not feeling slick…….you might want to clay it.

Most times its best to polishing after claying, it can marr the paint.

Use 845 and apply in a super super thin layer, less is more. Do a finger swipe and if sealant is ready to be wiped off it will "skin" off the surface with your finger, if it smears leave it on longer.

I'll chime in with the above. The new paint may not need clay treatment, but if it's been on a lot somewhere for any length of time it may need it. As Greg said, give it a good bath and check it for "crud".

And as rn said, the 845 is the sealant. Most "synthetic waxes" are considered sealants. Some people prefer to apply carnauba over their sealant for a deeper/warmer gloss. I've done that on our Solstice for a few years. This year I stopped at just the sealant to see how well it holds up on it's own. The wax will require reapplication every 6-8 weeks.

On the lot or off the truck I would clay it or I use the nanoskin wash mitt. All I use is 845 it's friggin awesome product. When needed I use Wolfgang finishing glaze which is a light polish. My truck is tuxedo black I probably polish 2 times a year and apply 845 5 times as well.

I'm one of those guys who likes a carnauba wax over my sealer. Give it a try, you'll like it.

I used Collinite, but will be trying Wolfgang Sealant this year. Going to put the 845 on top, hoping for some further protection.

I can tell you my new from the dealer 2014 is covered with stuff. I cant wait until my new clay gets here.

I use Wolfgang products the only one that I don't use is the sealant because of the 12 hour cure time. I would like to use it as I love their other products, so I will at least for now stick with my 845. Post your thoughts when you use it.
