Default Wd-40?????

I got a tip that you should use WD-40 to clean/polish chrome. for example a newly done exhaust with chrome tips. It is suppose to clean and prevent rust, as well as remove any current rust.
Anyone have any knowledge on this topic? Is this really a smart idea and should I keep using it? It has worked great so far at removing grim and polishing the chrome, it just takes a little scrubbing

I would not use it, it may harm the chrome finish after a while...Thats my opinion though.

I sell a product called Briter 601...Its an industrial product for 18 wheelers to clean their trailers, diamond plate and any chrome. I love it.

There are plenty of products out there that will clean chrome though.

I use Mothers liquid chrome polish on my Harley and people ask me how it looks so bright. Just clean the chrome with the vehicle, then use a little on a cloth towel. rub it on then rub it off.

You do not want to use anything like WD-40 to Shine the bright work. The oil will attract dust like a magnet and the chrome will end up looking worse then it did when you started. . You want a dedicated polish that cleans and protects with a dry coating.

Um ive heard of using WD-40 on gas powered rc cars, dirtbike frames to keep the alum support beam looking sharp but not on chrome on your ride. For chrome with some rust i used Eagle one Never Dull and after i use that i use Turtle was Chrome Polish both on my truck and my road bikes.

While I'm not a big fan of WD-40 for lubrication, it just doesn't last. It is some of the best hand cleaner I have ever used. It also will take little mars and spots off your paint, as well as glue residue from stickers. It also works well on road tar if you get it early. But it atracts dirt like crazy, so I don't use it on electrical contacts.
