Default Rim cleaner for 2014 Black Fx4

What cleaner do you guys recommend for my rims? They are the black ones that come on the FX4 with the appearance package. I have access to Meguires, Mothers, turtle wax etc. Big box store stuff basically.

I know everyone who uses collinite uses it on rims too but mine bottle is not in yet and need something for now.

Thanks

They're painted and clear coated similar to your body panels. With that said, wash, clay, polish, seal/wax. From there on out it's just keeping up with the brake dust.

This x1000. So much easier to get clean once, protect and maintain. Reapply when you are hitting up the truck for the season.

Okay I'm a noob with this detailing issue and tires. Could you please explain the clay step lol. I'm in the same boat with the black rims and pirrellis. I used the armor all extreme tire shine **** with the applicator and now I have this real thick black grease from the previous applications. Hard as he'll to get off. Suggestions for tire cleaner? Otherwise I go get that purple bottle from Can Tire.

Autogeek.net but be warned it can become addictive.

thanks for the replies everyone. I ended up just washing them and adding a layer of collinite 845 followed by a detail spray. they look awesome!

This link to Autogeek's website is a good starting point. Read through the steps carefully:
http://www.autogeek.net/detailingtips.html

Most people won't need claying, but lots of folks like to do it...like me. I've used traditional clay with much success. Lately though I've been using the Autoscrub Nanoskin sponges. They also make a Nanoskin towel. Both are less abrasive than traditional clay, but they do work nearly as well and in less time.

As for your tire shine...I hate the stuff. I don't do anything more than a thorough wash of the rubber (using a dedicated mitt that I won't use on the paint). After the wash I will spray a VERY LIGHT misting of Truxedo's Pro-Tex which is designed for their bed covers. It leaves a nice UV protected layer on the tires and no shine.

To remove your tire shine...a good stiff bristled nylon brush and some dish soap should work. It'll take some elbow grease though. The nylon bristles shouldn't hurt the wheel's coating.
