I've got a Husqvarna back pack blower... You're right about blowing off the paint! One of the best gifts I've received as I live in the middle of a woods. I've found that it makes a great snow "blower" as well as long as it's a light, fluffy snow.

Can't make that blanket statement. Some gas powered blowers have a motor at one end and the blower at the other. Mine does. Since the blower is turned by a mechanical connection, there is no exhaust anywhere near the air output.

I use my electric though as it's more convenient and quieter.

I've been using a $30 corded electric leaf blower for over 5 years (same one) to get the 'big' water off before the final drying, on my 2 cars and truck

I have used my gas Redmax, but I switched to a Ridgid cordless blower, same result just takes longer

I use the Master Blaster with waffle weave towels. The Master Blaster is the bomb! The warm air that it produces really cuts down on drying time, plus gets the water out of all the nooks and crannies.

I started out using an electric leaf blower - With CAUTION!
I personally would not use a gas blower but hey, that's me...
IMPORTANT: NEVER use it for leaves! ONLY use it to dry paint.
* Create an intake filter with a dryer hose clamp and mesh

Pros:
Inexpensive - pushes lots of air

Cons:
Can pick up debris and blow it on your paint
Usually has a hard tip that can bump/scratch paint.

Now let's move to the one everyone is raving about...
It comes in two flavors Metro Air Force Master Blaster
and the Metro Air Force Master Blaster Revolution
The difference is better front wheels, Wall Mount Bracket and Hose hanger.
For a couple extra nickels you can even get a 30 foot hose.

Pros:
It has 2 settings 4hp Yea! and 8hp Hell Yea!!!
4hp is safe for for small crevices (inside rear view mirrors)
8hp works great for chasing water off paint
Soft rubber tip at the end of the hose (in case you bump paint)
Up to 58,000 feet per minute of clean, warm, dry, filtered air.

Cons:
The Master Blaster costs more than a leaf blower.
Although it is light you "pull" it around the vehicle.

In my case I have the regular Master Blaster
To make it "roll" better/safer I purchased a small, flat furniture dolly.
It's held in place with a couple of bungee cords and it's solid as a rock.
