the only time i'll go through an automatic carwash is if it is touchless. i'm not worried about high pressure water or soap but no spinning brushes!!

I pay for a monthly service, it’s $49 a month and you can’t beat it. But I will keep this in mind. Did you not notice right away because I would of raised holy hell?

You can try and get a polisher and do some of it yourself. Had a similar issue on a different car where dealer used a crappy mitt.

I'm always afraid of automatic car washes too. I would never take my MB to one. I always wash it myself but what do you do with your truck in the middle of winter after you've driven on salt treated roads and the temperature is too cold to wash it in your driveway?
We had a small storm here in the Northeast this weekend and they spread salt and my new Magnetic F150 needs to be washed but the temps are in the 30's. How can I get it clean without going to a car wash?

Here the self service high pressure wand "bays" are all over. 6 quarters and spray it off. Some folks will spray it down with the soap mode and then hurry and wipe it down and then spend another 6 quarters and rinse it off.

They have a foaming brush you can use but they pretty much guarantee swirls/scratches.

I just assumed these are everywhere.

I just used a touchless last weekend for the same reasons Dean mentioned - stuck driving in the slush and salt and couldn't stand it any longer.

It's amazing how the self-serve wand type washes are disappearing. Everyone just wants to sit on their tails and drive through I guess. The little village I lived in way back when had a high pressure wand wash, single bay, with doors and HEATED! Nobody ever used it. I LOVED that thing. I'd pop in, get a six pack of brew and a fist full of quarters from their store and detail my truck!

Got home from the gym this morning and the garden hose wasn’t frozen. Gave the truck a good spraying making sure to get the undercarriage and the wheel wells. Had to get to work so I didn’t have time for a full wash and dry but it looks much better now.

Look at the rinseless/waterless methods out there. In winter I'll pull my truck into the garage, pull the door down as far as it will go, fire up the heater and go to it. Waterless when it's just a little grime, rinseless if it needs a little more. If it's really bad I'll go to the pay place, use the gun, then follow up at home with a rinseless.

A sign saying someone is not responsible for something does nothing in the way of actually removing responsibility from them.

Most valet places have a sign saying they are not responsible for damage... only problem is the law states that they are, and that sign does not supersede any laws. Same with your carwash, they can put out signs saying they are not responsible, but the fact of the matter and the law states clearly that they are!

If a sign changed the law, or actually removed liability... Don't you think every car on the road would have a sign that said not responsible for damages to your car... Or if people had dangerous dogs, they could put a sign on the dogs collar, not responsible if this dog bites you
