Best to use a wax that does not hurt the appearance of rubber trim.

I found the Meguires Liquid Gold Class wax to disappear if it get on vinyl or rubber. I apply with a porter cable and remove with MF towel and it lasts a long time. It is expensive but awesome. So easy to remove.

Magic erasers are 100 % melamine.
Have you ever seen a broken melamine plate? The hard plastic dinnerware. Pretty hard to break, but when it does it shatters into large and small slivers that will easily cut flesh.
Melamine is also used in some countertops and shelves.
It is very hard and can form very sharp edges.

I was told it was the oil in the peanut butter that covers the wax but eventually you see it again. I dunno.

Why not just use vinegar? Mix a little rubbing alcohol with it to make it evaporate quicker.

Try Dawn Dish Soap, It will strip the wax off the finish so it will remove wax from trim, Just mix up a small batch about 1 oz to a quart and scrub then rinse good

That's what I've always used, and it's never damaged the plastic. Dish soap is made to cut grease, oil and just about anything else. It strips plastic, glass, Tupperware and dishes down to a clean surface without damaging the surface. And therefore, it works very well on removing wax on plastic, without harming it. Not only does it remove the wax reside, but all dirt and contaminants too. The plastic trim will be clean, but you'll also need to rinse off the dish soap and apply some protectant, or whatever you normally use.

Actually, I use 60% vinegar and 39 % rubbing alcohol with a couple of spoonfuls of Dish soap thrown in. The cleaning agent is mostly the vinegar. The alcohol mostly makes it evaporate quickly without swirling and the dish soap acts to keep everything in solution. I also use it as a detailer on the paint and glass. Don't use too much dish soap or the solution will suds and then you'll have to use alcohol to get the swirls off.

Meguiar's Liquid Gold spray wax is the key, spray on, rub a little with a 350 MF towel and it's gone. Not the Gold Class liquid wax, Works very well on soft vinyl tonneau covers too. Doesn't turn white whatsoever.

Amazon Amazon

Not to be confused with the Quick Detailer or Quick Wax.

Also works great on windows. We use it on the cars we do in our detailing business

Collinite 845 will not leave a white residue on black trim.
