peanut butter works great... little dab on your finger and wipe it off... gone. Plus its cheap and most likely already in your kitchen cabinet.

I think the reason it becomes a "difficult thing" is the fact that the wax isn't noticeable until it starts to "chalk" after several weeks. Also, when wet it tends to disappear so it's hard to tell if you got it off or not until a few weeks go by and it starts to appear again.

The pre-winter detail on my explorer several weeks ago I took a different approach. I used the trim sealant on all the plastic before I applied the wax on the paint. The logic being the trim sealant would help prevent the wax from bonding to the plastic. Appears to have been successful.

Try using a clean cotton cloth, i guess that will work.

I tape the edge of the trim just like you would when painting. Takes a few extra minutes, but much less time than cleaning after. Ford trim is a pain to begin with.

I would like to know how to get compound off as well. Getting the wax off wasn't bad, but the Mothers compound sucks to get off.

Tried the peanut butter as I had some in the garage. The stuff really works with just a little rubbing and then wiping off with an industrial paper towel.. Washed the truck afterwards with some turtle wash/cleaner, let it dry and looks great. Before and after pics.
