3 years ago when I had dried wax on trim, they rated backfire the one and only product...just looked now and it's way down on the list...
Anyway I use the all in one BF-450 and works great. It does not mask and hide stiff to make it look black, cleans it to make it like new..I use on tires and any black trim.

Well I tried Magic Eraser and so far it works. I did not use any treatment afterwards either as I wanted to see if something in the eraser was covering up the wax. Been four days so far and the trim looks like new, not shiny either, looks like the rest of the trim. When I used Mothers Preserves Protect, it would only last a few days.

Just got through using this stuff on the bed rails. The wax was very noticeable but this stuff cleaned it right off with a microfiber towel.

Everyone makes this out to be such a difficult thing and you need some magic product to take care of wax on trim.
Truth is, it's just WAX. You can use any APC to remove it. If you have a really strong APC, then use it as a 50/50 mix with water. This will ensure that you do not pull any color out of your trim. Always test an area first, of course.
There are plenty of products you can use to restore and protect your trim as well. Always use something to keep the trim healthy and new looking.
Do your own research on that department, but I prefer to use Adam's Polishes products. They have everything form APC, to trim coatings, trim restorers and also ceramic trim coatings if you have a real need to spend money and make your trim perfect.
No need to over-complicate things.
