Default How to clean a steering wheel?

I got a vinyl steering wheel from a junkyard because it is in far better shape then my old one. However, with every cleaning wipe its dirty as sin. I just can not seem to get it clean to where nothing comes off on the wipe. Any solutions??

I'd spray it in simple green, let it set at least 1-2 minutes, scrub with a soft bristle brush, rinse with water then dry and buff with microfiber cloth. Try your wipes again and repeat if needed.

X2 on Simple Green.... Just wrap a towel around the steering column.

So spray the wheel and then wrap a towel around it and let it soak in to the towel? Please elaborate.

Wrap the column before you spray to keep Simple Green from running down it.

I like the smell. I use it to clean my seats and carpet.

I gave it a good hour of my time and feel like I have not made a dent in it at all. Unreal!

It could be the color of the vinyl that keeps showing up on the cloth.
