Default Help me build my auto detailing kit

Just as the title says, I am looking for some good advice one which products to use. I'd like to do a complete makeover with my current washing supplies. Since money is a factor here, I'd like to find the best bang for my buck but I will splurge a little bit if there are some products that are a little on the expensive side but are proven to blow the competition out of the water.

The vehicle details:
2016 SCrew Bronze Fire with the Chrome Package & PVDs
Tan cloth interior

My current washing products are very basic:
RainX Car Wash
Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound
Meguiar's Wax
Black Magic Tire Wet
NAPA Ammonia Free Glass Cleaner
Armor All Interior Wipes
The Absorber XL

I searched through a couple threads on here to see what others are using and I figured it might be easier to start my own thread. Who knows, this might help others create the ultimate detailing kit if I can get enough feedback.

Thanks in advance!

Stop using Armor All. Just leaves a slick greasy film that collect dust on the dash and interior panels.

I highly recommend Adam's Polishes. Can't go wrong with anything they have.

They have a Valentines Day sale still going for a little longer.

Great looking truck, Meguiars stuff is hard to beat for best bang for your buck. Personally I like Griot's Garage and Adam's stuff. But meguiars is where I started.

Just bought the same color 16'
Autogeek.com is a great resource as already mentioned.
I live in the Northeast so we're still dealing with salty roads, I'm planning on a good grit free 2 bucket wash then
Nano sponge or claybar and apply Hydro2 until spring.
After spring
Who knows?
I can also suggest collinite 845 for a similar colot. my wife had a explorer in med copper that was done with collinite and wow. But many good choices
But I really like the bronze fire color and can't wait to see what a paint correction will do.

I was looking at that Nano sponge as well. It doesn't seem like a bad deal. I have also read about all the reviews on the Collinite on how great it is for the value so I have been giving that some thought as well.

As far as salty roads go, I'm right there with you...literally. I'm right down I-70 off the Speers exit as soon as you cross over into Washington County lol.

Fyi, My detail man lives a mile or two from Speers exit.
Message me if you want his number.

Let's start with washing supplies...

Th IMHO the 2B Wash Method is a good read before you begin.
I'm a BIG fan of the Two Bucket Wash Method <- Click LINK

Important items:
A quality wash mitt (I like Merino Wool)
Two Grit guards (Keep your wash water clean)
Two (new) clean white 5 gallon buckets
A quality drying towel (I like Dry-Me-Crazy)

______________________

I like the Merino wool wash mitt

2) Grit Guards

Weekly Washing Soaps:
Mequiars Gold Class Car Wash
or
Meguiars D110 Hyper-Wash

Question: Do you need to decontaminate your paint?

What is that? Wash a small area...feel it with your hand in a baggie. Do you feel grit?

If so, you probably have embedded contaminants in your paint. Let us know your results.

A good products to use to help eliminate that is Carpro Iron-X Snow soap

I can go more in-depth on paint contamination in another thread (if you would like)
This should get you started on your "complete makeover" quality products for now.
Many quality auto detailing products are not available at Wal-Mart or local auto-parts store.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have been on AutoGeek the last couple of days and have come up with some items that I feel would work good for me:

Washing & Decon:
Nanoskin Bubble Bath Wash & Nanoskin AutoScrub Fine Wash Mitt
(I originally had Meguiar's Gold on my mind but decided I liked the Nanoskin system since it doubles as a clay bar replacement - which is something I have never done before on any of my vehicles)

Drying:
Cobra Supreme Guzzler Waffle

Polish:
Klasse All-In-One & Klasse High Gloss Sealant

Wax:
Collinite #845

Quick Detail:
Blackfire Midnight Sun Carnaubu Spray Wax

Buffing:
Cobra Gold Plush XL Microfiber
Color Coded Microfibers for other tasks

Interior I am still working on some options but I agree, I need to get away from Armor All. I like how easy they clean the dash and doors but never liked how greasy everything felt afterwards. I am also going to attempt the 2 bucket wash system - it just makes more sense now that I have read the article you posted so thanks for that!
