May I make a suggestion... I use ICE Interior spray... No white residue, and can use it on vinyl, plastic, leather and etc. I have had no problems with it, my 2012 Fx4 has about 8k and the seats look like I purchased the truck yesterday. It's found at your local auto store or Walmart..make some product.

Maybe your platinum is.. but the FX series uses only Leather on the bolsters. quick way to find out is to undo the plastic clips that hold your seat cover on and check if the material has the white fabric backing which means its vinyl

OK so I bought some Lexol leather cleaner and leather conditioner (2 separate bottles) for the REAL leather seats in my other car.

Should I not use this on my new FX2 pleather seats? Am I reading that this will damage them?

I assume if the bolsters are real leather, I can use the lexol on those and something else like the Ice stuff mentioned above for the center sections?

I'm interested in the responses to this question as well. I had purchased some Lexol right after I bought my truck but promptly returned it after a bit of reading. The manual (I know, who reads that?!? Haha) actually states the following on page 370:

LEATHER SEATS
(IF EQUIPPED, EXCEPT FOR THE KING RANCHfdc01 EDITION)
For King Ranchfdc00 leather seats, refer to a separate section in this chapter.
• Clean spills and stains as quickly as possible.
• For routine cleaning, wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. For more thorough cleaning, wipe the surface with a mild soap and water solution. In Canada, use Motorcraftfdc00 Vinyl Cleaner (CXC-93). Dry the area with a soft cloth.
• If the leather cannot be completely cleaned using a mild soap and water solution, the leather may be cleaned using a commercially available leather cleaning product designed for automotive interiors.
• To check for compatibility, first test any cleaner or stain remover on an inconspicuous part of the leather.
• Do not use household cleaning products, alcohol solutions, solvents or cleaners intended for rubber, vinyl and plastics, or oil/petroleum-based leather conditioners. These products may cause premature wearing or damage to the leather.

There seems to be so much mixed opinions on this subject, but I have just used the soap and warm water on my FX4 black "leather" and it seemed to work fine.

I'm not sure that's 100% true... the alcantera will have white backing for sure.

So have we decided if we have vinyl or protected leather? Or are we all still guessing here? Mine is a '13 FX4.

I've used Leather Masters on my other high end cars with Nappa leather (protected leather) and had great results... same thing with Glipstone. If no one answers with a definitive answer then I'll be continuing with these products.
