search "what size tires can I run?" "my trucks misfiring, what do i do?" or "why am I only getting 12 MPGs?" and you'll know why this is a "topic"

Some of the same topics on here have literally been posted 50-100s times already. Redundancy is not what makes a forum worthwhile. People would still post, regardless of whether they searched. But if they searched, their posts would be more worthwhile.

You've apparently been here 2 months. Get back to me in 2 years to see if 1. you're even still on here or 2. if you've been driven crazy with the repetitive posts. It's one of the main reasons I've started disappearing from this forum for weeks or months at a time.

And just in case you want to get on to me about this post, be aware that I've helped many people on this forum doing all the work for them in searching and whatever else on many occasions. I'm not heartless. I just believe people should use their brains. (I know, what a crazy thought that is!)
Not trying to stir up any illegitimate feelings, but I would like to jump in on this topic and give my exercitation of the "search the forum" retort.

I am a recent member and not at all an expert in "Online Forums" or on "F150's". However, I do appreciate the ideas and constructive comments/criticism of fellow members. I think alot of members who post repetitive questions just want multiple options and or feedback. I understand some are lazy, but without feedback this forum would be USELESS. What good is a build thread or product review without out multiple opinions and people viewing it?

Not trying to be confrontational, but most of the people who post the "How to's" or "Install thread's" want to be complimented and enjoy the, per-say STATUS of being a do it yourself-er. I've come to find out most of the members who give you the "search the forum" answer, can't even answer the question themselves or are to lazy to help you out. Why would you even read the thread, let alone reply, if you weren't going to post a link or be somewhat helpful? To be arrogant, or in all honesty to be helpful?

I realize you must have seen the "WHAT SIZE TIRES FIT" question a million times, but alot of the new users don't understand how to search or don't want to take the time. The sole reason they signed up was for that certain question or problem. I can truly see how it can get annoying, but any forum is going to have its one time users and drifters.

The last I recall this is an F150 community. We should all help out the best we can. I dont envy anyone because they have 5,000 post, 5 year membership, or the best build. However, I do respect and appreciate the poster with relevant info no matter his STATUS within the forum.

I can't understand the pertinacious members who think they hold the presidency of the F150 Forum! I'm here to get answers, ideas, and meet people with similar interest. Sure, constructive criticism is great but if you think you are too "high up on the f150 board" or to smart to answer my question, don't even reply.

Sorry for venting...

Touche...well said and I agree. If someone thinks it's a stupid thread just click the back button and proceed on with life. No big deal. Telling someone to use the search button may help some people and some may take it the wrong way and be upset. I dont really mind repeating the same answer if it helps someone but ask me again in a year or so and see if I changed my mind. haha.

I see it as for as much as I have learned from others on here, I should repay what I learned and pass on the knowledge.

I suppose I'm of 2 minds about this topic. Typically(probably about 50-75% of the time) I use the search function. So I understand how it can be frustrating to find a thread that will probably answer your question...but it has 100+ posts. And who wants to sift thru all of that?

But, there are threads with only 8-10 posts as well. Such as a "rail dust" thread. I see these a few times a month. As a painter at a body shop, I naturally am attracted to these types of threads, eager to help. I know some people don't know its called "rail dust," but most posts are titled "rust in paint" or something like that. If they did a quick search, they would've found the answer easily in a quick 8-10 post thread. Typically the answer is "its covered under warranty." Lol.

Also at the same time, I have posted "how to's." Mainly to prove something can be done. Not to hopefully get a "pat on the back."
I keep these "how to" threads at the ready actually...so I can quick link the thread in a post. Not to say,"hey use the search." But,"hey I did this, and it worked, here's the link"

So I guess I officially do both. I search...but I also help if possible...and not say, "use the search" (I will admit... I have said it) I know I agreed with another person earlier in this thread, because in some instances I can't see how you wouldn't try searching. But that was a knee jerk post before I actually thought about this! Hahaha!!!

I'm on the fence also, though some of you need to realize we are talking about f150's....I personally tend to only stay in 04-08 section, with that said there are seriously only so many issues or topics to discuss regarding our trucks. Of course I'm not referring to any custom build threads, customization mods and so on. I'm pretty sure any problem/concern/fitment issue to ever happen with our trucks has been discussed here somewhere. I will use the search but I'm also here to interact, so I usually post just to get feedback from fellas I've grown accustomed to seeing around the forum and have 'shot the sh*t' with before.
