Same principle applies here.

P.S. I wholeheartedly agree with you on Win8, it's almost as bad as WinME was, more stable but confusing as hell. Win 10 works.

Just for sentimental reasons I was digging thru my archives of files and found a copy of Netscape Navigator, that was a pretty kewl web browser back in the day, my modern system wouldn't allow it to work properly unless I use a virtual box and that's just too much work for what it was/is worth.

Hey buttercup,
i ain't gonna go through the expense and hassle to update my software or PC just to be trouble free on this one forum.
The only forum i have a goofy problem with.
And that includes all websites visited, YouTube videos and online purchases.... all trouble free except for this one website.
Out of the thousands of websites visited over the years, yep this site is the only one with a goofy issue.

Something like the many posts here regarding Ford dealership service depts....
.....no CEL=so no problem OR can't reproduce the problem OR thats normal.

Anyhow going to do more troubling shooting myself first concentrating on browser settings.
I already tried deleting this sites cookies, same 'ol same 'ol, endless 'Got it' prompts.

Where are these prompt strings located in the code.
What conditions or flags must be met to display those prompt strings.
Why is there no 'remember me' check box here as in every other forum i'm on.
On and on.

buttercup,
you're probably right about one thing, looks like its going to be...it is what it is, just gonna have to live with it.

How do you explain this just happening the last week or two granted before that i got the prompts ONLY on the 1st thread viewed..
My OS and browser software hasn't changed one byte let alone one bit since then.
Seems to me something changed on your end recently.

I can login, reply, start threads, edit, cut, paste, copy, preview, submit and upload pictures.
Why can i do all that much more complicated stuff with my 'old' software then?

Those so called 'modern code' prompts are generated by this forum's software not my software.
There must be a script for my login procedure thats flagging these prompts to display.
Seems to me that would be easy to troubleshoot.

Do you display those prompts only for newbies?
Are you going to even take a token effort to look into this other than saying 'its your software'?

I knew i should of bought a RAM at least their forums and all others i'm on have no goofy issues with the software i'm running.

I mentioned "modern code" because codebases have to be updated periodically, and once code bases get updated--this is a widespread compliance thing, not a "IB" thing--support for older OSes are naturally deprecated as they age, which is why Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP--the OS is just too limited to display and render updated code properly.

Recently, we made a cookie-to-database switch for the informational overlay--which in the screenshots you supplied--doesn't display correctly (because your machine is too old).

Given your issues with seeing this overlay on every screen, it tells us that your OS/ browser combination is fundamentally rejecting how system operates on multiple levels--which is not something we can troubleshoot, again, because Windows XP is no longer something we can support.

IB Jose,
thanks for at least for at least not totally ignoring my issue.
The explanation of the recent cookie to data base is in line why i'm having this issue also recently.
Not saying you're wrong but I'm still poking around Firefox.
I discovered Java has been blocked by Firefox as needing an update along with Silverlight, etc.
A work in progress.

As i mentioned earlier this is the only website i have any kind of issues with so unfortunately i'll have to live with the annoying prompts until at least one other website gives problems or i can't do anything here per any future software changes.
At that time, then i'll have to update to 'gulp' Window 10 or whatever is the latest uSoft POS OS system..
For now i'm sticking with my old XP.

Thanks again.

Yeah at some point down the road i'll be forced to update the OS.
Updating the OS is not gonna be a trivial thing as i have devices, controllers, games, hi-speed video card and other adapter cards, C/Basic compilers, even old DOS code, old software, etc. on my gaming PC.
Most of that would require updated drivers if even available for Win10 if outright incompatible with Win 10 and likely a ton of new application software.
Maybe a project for next Winter or the Winter after.

Progress sucks sometimes but it's moving ahead lol. Not much can be done as far as old drivers although Win 10 does have a lot of legacy drivers for a few things, as for the old software look into emulators and/or running a virtual box. I have run old dos games on Win 10 that way.

Oracle Virtual box is what I use as it's free and does a good job once you climb over the learning curve. Websites however are not static like software tends to be, they usually move with the times.

Here I'm running Linux openSUSE in a virtual box on my Win 10 laptop. You can also run any version of Windows or any other operating system you like, you can cross copy files so you don't lose anything while transitioning over etc....

And running WinXP

Let's go back even further with Win 95.

Surfing the internet with Windows XP is scary. Hopefully your PC has zero personal information on it?

Treads?

Beached?

Are we driving a truck on the sand?

Yeah i somewhat agree but so far no issues or viruses ever and i never open emails where i don't recognize the sender and no personal data on my PC.
I keep my 3rd party anti virus/firewall up to date, do periodic scans and set FireFox to private browsing mode with all security options checked.

What is concerning is doing on-line banking but again so far so good.
Maybe the hackers gave up on XP 'because' its obsolete. lol.

I have two hard drives installed on my PC both with XP OS.
Gonna research if its even possible which i highly doubt with the BIOS, to update one of the drives to Win 10 strictly for on-line stuff and keep the other drive as is with XP for all other off line stuff including as an archive for my old software, drivers and devices.

Plan B would be to pickup a cheap PC strictly for on-line browsing, etc.
