This is getting out of hand!

1. I don't know how. I'm sure there are several ways, but you can figure them out for yourself, because
2. While I absolutely do not agree with their redirection of the page, covering the page, and so on, I can't in good faith reverse engineer and redesign the app to block the ads. Doing so would likely be illegal (violation of the license agreement for the app's use). Much like altering your headlights, if you want to give it a try, it's on you.
Yes sir, exactly right

Hey android guys, samsung in general
I had to quit garage talk for 2 reasons
1. ads were beyond annoying. I know from being here when garage talk was born, the ads were as they appear today. Lots of peeps whined (including me) and they agreed to shut them off (it was that simple)... so why can't they do it now?
2. garage talk used to use ~3-5% of my battery on any given day.... this was from a couple days back
23% and only half way into my day. Yesterday it consumed 70 % of my battery and one or more of the ads injected a virus of sorts as it continued to eat my battery and appeared in battery usage as a fictitious rouge app called 10703 even after the uninstall????
Anyway I did a factory reset and just did not load garage talk.
Today I used mobile web, I still get ad's but todays "internet use" including this forum and others was all of 9% my battery.
I guess I'm asking, can you android guys see if what your Garage talk battery usage is at? Let me know if you want directions on how to check.
Also can someone ask the forum to simply shut them off as they did in the beginning?
If not, what would it cost to get an ad free version...I'll pay, I use this app often and mis it after only one day...
oh, can someone let me know if and when GT drops the ad's... thanks, just no way am I gonna use it unless they are gone

I checked my battery stats. Garage Talk wasn't even on the list. I'm install and reinstall it, Mudd. Plus, a note to you and everyone - ads do not inject viruses. Planting a virus is not that simple and not every device issue means you have one.

ok thanks... I did un install it, then reinstalled and had the same results. after I uninstalled it period, had some rouge process that took its place in drawing the battery . 1st I cleared the cache and rebooted...no luck, so I did a factory reset... phone was fine after that. kinda afraid to load GT again as it takes awhile to factory reset the phone. I never do a restore as you would be loading the same crap ya just got rid of, so I load all apps new

I've been on the forum for about 15 minutes to this point and sure enough it's chowed a lot of my battery.
I don't and never have experienced any pop up ad's, but the new advertising on the bottom of every page is distracting. So yeah the genius who decided ad's were a good idea are working, because you can't help but look at them.
Yet, therein lies the problem.....

Ad display won't kill a battery like that. I wonder what the refresh rate of the app is. It's not the display that's killing the battery by way of the app because the app does not wake the screen. It's possible the battery is being discharged from constant refreshing (the transmit request creates demand on the phone's antennas).

There was a time when GT didn't have ads and now it does, so that means we're now on a new build of GT (saying that without having actually checked build dates). It could be the refresh, a loaded app itself running constantly in the background (like a daemon), or - to be frank - the app could just be written like sh**.
Really the best option here is to post your review of the app, with the star rating, on the Google Play or Apple App Store page for this app. The dev team should see all feedback directly there, as I doubt they're monitoring a truck forum for app feedback

If I was a dev, the first thing I'd be doing is checking the log files. Any good developer has a log file, and they log everything - successes and failures. If those aren't there (well, you suck as a developer), then I'd put the code files for each build up on my screen side by side and see what changed, then go through the changes one by one and see which one is causing the demand for system assets (power).
