I have a 5.0L SCAB - 6 1/2 foot bed.
Yes, I experience the shudder when towing - at the top of 1st and 2nd gears, pretty bad. After that, I don't notice anything.
I'd LOVE a fix - sooner then later. I'm taking a long trip in about three weeks to Fort White, Florida camping and tubing with some friends. It's about a 230 mile trip towing my toy hauler - around 6,000 pounds.
In case I miss anything, PLEASE keep me posted on a fix!

The 5.4 engines are proven workhorses. I have a buddy that has a 2006 F150 and that thing's a beast! I drove it the other day and was suprised at the power it had. I've spent lots of time reading about the Eco's and the 5.0's being awesome but I have to admit, I underestimated the 5.4's *****.
I'm still astonished by the on demand power I have. My 2004 Nissan Titan was optioned the same as my F150 but with a few less options and addition of Skid plates didn't have the on demand power this ford does and it was rated at 305 HP and 379 lbs of torque on a truck that was 550 lbs lighter!! The new transmission and the power curve really help out the 5.4L.
Never driven an Ecoboost so can't comment. The 5.0L high end power really benefits from the 3.73 where the 3.55 axle is adequate, at least on the heavier 4WD Screw.
It's nice that there is a 2011 forum as I rarely visit it but it would be nice if the main 2009+ forum broke down the engines as I have little interest in the 2011s at all. The trucks mechanics are almost all different including power steering, transmission, engines, and even the interior electronics as gauges and even turn signal.

No disrespect to the mature younger people out there, but I found a lot of the rudeness comes from rich kids that have more money than sense, that can actually buy a $40,000 truck!

Thanks.
When loaded (the truck, not me), starting off... at the top of 1st gear...just before it shifts to 2nd gear, there's a rumble that seems to come from the rear end. I guess it seems more like a rear end rumble then a transmission thing. It does it again at the top of 2nd gear too. All other gears seem fine.
There's no loss of power and it doesn't feel like it can't or wont do the work.
It's done since the first time I towed my toy hauler and every time since.
Doesn't matter if I push it hard or drive like an old lady ... it does it.
