Default better search, end repeat questions

i love this site but, there seems to be a lot of repetitive questions and it's because the search option is too difficult. i'm guilty of it myself, and i believe this is what drives the veterans on the forum away.

call me stupid but when i try to use the search i find myself spending a lot more time then just re-asking the questions.

is there a way to make search easier?

I just google whatever I'm looking for and end it with "f150 forum". Works pretty well. If I wanted to see oxford white f150s I would type ( oxford white f150s f150 forum)

Google works well if you isolate this forum in your search. In your google search window type:

"site:f150forum.com KEYWORD"

For Example, if you're looking for threads about Bilstein Shocks search:

"site:f150forum.com bilstein"

It will produce a list of results for bilstein and limit it to the f150forum site. I use this method all the time and it works well. The search tool on the forum is lacking

Good advice! I usually do a quick try with the forum Search, if not what I am looking for I go straight to google as listed above. BTW this is very helpful to know to find what you are looking for on any site.

I search all the time.

But if I see a new guy here, one with low post count, with a question, I will drop him or her a bone now and then.

I hate to see folks throw "do the search" rocks at a newbie.

Exactly as mrash stated. That's the method I have been using and whatever you are looking for is usually the one of the first few hits.

IIRC, I think it was Martian the mod that first pointed this out. To me anyway

yes but for new people they don't know, so they try the search engine and get confused so they post a same question and it's the reason it happens not in the know, i have been here a year and still learning.

other forums i'm on i can go to search and type in leather seats and all post for that comes up.

i can find many examples but i will the most resent ones that come to mind.

wrapped bumpers -
leveled trucks-

there is a post for xlt with leather seats, and a post for a leather seat truck wanting cloth seats and a jump seat- i think if the search was more user friendly these 2 would connect.

i'm just sitting here so i have time to scroll through 3 or 5 pages of content, but most people don't. just saying.
