Truck was built in Feb 2018, purchased in Mar 2019. This sucker has been sitting outside for over a year. Of course make ready does nothing but wash and vacuum. Felt the pain on the upper surfaces and it was so full of contamination it was like sandpaper.....lol. Got the clay bar out and in 20 min clayed it and waxed. Now its as smooth as a babies butt.

My 2014 sat for well over a year before I got it, the paint was nice and clean, the plastics though were faded. The 2016 was nearly a year on the lot, but the paint was already showing environmental damage, that nothing but a respray would have fixed, but I bought it in winter, and indoor lighting did not bring up the flaws, only direct spring sunlight, so by then, too late to warranty it.

My build date was a month before I purchased.
My in-laws went back 2 weeks later and bought an XLT that sat for 8 months. Interesting where the demand is.

A new vehicle sitting on the lot for a long time wants an owner.
All the dogs i've ever had were either adopted or rescued from the local dog pound.
And they were all grateful for a home, couldn't ask for better dogs.

The same could be true for a vehicle waiting for an owner as i bought a couple new vehicles over the years that were sitting on the lot for a long while.
They were the best vehicles maints. wise that i ever owned.

Google a product called Black WoW. Works really well on the black plastic. Brings the color back. Used it on a Ford Escape and 3 years later still looks new.

New cars in the 80s had a protective coat for transport. A friend performed pre-sale prep and a wash was part of that routine.

It makes you wonder sometimes why one will stay on a lot for a long time. My other car(2018)was on two different lots in large cities for a total of 6 months. My dealer found it and swapped it with something the other dealer wanted. What is so odd that many must have seen that vehicle and no one wanted it. It is top of the line, loaded with stuff, and gorgeous!

Sometimes manufacturers "gift" dealerships with a car that maybe doesn't fit the market, also fully loaded vehicles usually take longer to sell just because not everybody can dish out that higher payment for that extra 5-10k in options. Theres a reason generally a limited will sit on the lot longer than your average xlt

@2pac I understand what you stated if it had been in two small towns, but this one was in two large cities where you would most likely find those with filled wallets. But I do see your point. I purchased an XLT because I just could not see paying $65,000.00 for a loaded truck when in 1973 I bought one for $5,200.00!
