I ordered a Lariat yesterday and got it for $946 below invoice. That excludes tax/title and fees and consideration of rebates. Not sure what will happen at first when the 2015 comes out but you should be able to start at invoice and get the dealer's holdback.

Thanks for the website address for "X" plan partners. I did Google search for my partner code. Built my truck and saw my price.

Question

why would a dealer just give you his holdback on a new model year?

I was too upfront that I had an X Plan PIN and as mentioned before, I got screwed on my trade. When I bought my F-150 I went to 2 different dealers and my game was the same. I told them I will be custom ordering an FX4 SCREW and left it at that. Next I wanted them to appraise my trade and put it in writing for me. The dealer with the best deal on my trade wins. The war began and I would forward the dealers emails to each other, it was great! Finally there was a stalemate and one dealer beat the other by $100 on my trade, so I went there. We sat down and built my truck, discussed rebates, etc.. Not until we got a final number did I give him my PIN. He was pissed, lol. Im not in this to make friends, I just want a new truck. In the end karma got me though. My truck is garbage and the dealer I bought it from has the single worst service dept in Ford history. So, while I could have still gotten a lemon from the other dealer, knowing what I know now I would have gladly paid the extra $100 to have a dealer with a knowledgeable service dept. Food for thought.
This outlook is extremely helpful. I think to withhold the X Plan pin until the very end is a great idea. I will be doing this sane thing. Thanks again.

Why would a dealer not give you the holdback on an order....he is not paying any interest to keep the vehicle on his lot. The invoice price is not what the dealer pays....there is a factory cost. The invoice includes hold back and dealer profit plus the dealer may get back incentives from Ford. I requested pricing from nine dealerships in my area and seven were below the invoice. The lowest price was from a dealer about 35 miles away but I really wanted to buy from a dealer that I have used many times in the past. I told them they were not the lowest, that there were two lower and two at the same price, and if they would drop their price to match they would get the sale. Not a problem. Start with Edmonds as a base and go from there. But be aware that Edmonds does not include the fuel charge $118 and advertising fee $724 that many dealers do not tell you about.
