X-Plan vs. Negotiating
I am eligible to receive X-Plan pricing through my work, however I am curious as to whether or not it is better than haggling the price down. I am looking at getting a new 2015 (hopefully FX4 crew cab) when they are released. I know some people have had better luck negotiating price, but I wonder with it being a new model year, limited availability at first, and high demand if it would be better to use the X-Plan because it is a set price with respect to the invoice. Any help or advice for this would be great. I am new to the forum so thanks in advance for the info!

I've always used X-plan, its a good, no haggle price. Depending on the dealer, they just might not sell you the truck at invoice or maybe they will.
AZD pricing is for retired and active ford employees. and on my invoice, was about $900 cheaper than "X", and was below "invoice".
Some of the dealers around here use "X" plan as their "internet pricing", to make it an attractive price below sticker.
One of the advantages of the "X" plan is that you do not have to pay the outrageous DOC/DEALER fees (if the dealer you are working with has one).
some of the doc fees around here exceed $598. "X" plan doc fee is capped at $100.

Here most of the dealers use the internet "no haggle" price as the x plan. Also my state prohibits doc fees but the dealers just throw $500 pin stripping or $500 nitrogen filled tires as a profit inflator.

I appreciate the answers. Ultimately I'm guessing I'll have to special order a new truck when they come out, so I'm guessing without the X Plan I would have to pay MSRP? I'm not sure how things work if there is a special order involved.

You could just state when you order it, that you're X-plan eligible.
If you special order, when the truck is delivered, it will have the X-Plan price on the invoice.... Not sure if you can find that out beforehand on a BTO...

When a new model comes out, dealers may not accept X-Plan certificates for some period of time - but you'll just have to check with your dealer about that.
I'm not a good negotiator, so I used X-Plan through my company to buy my 2013 F150 last summer. I think the pricing was VERY good!!
One problem is that they may try to recoup some of the low pricing with a lousy deal on your trade-in, and that's where you may have to haggle for a good value on your trade-in, even with X-Plan pricing. If you aren't trading something in, no problem.
Also, I had to initially finance through Ford at an interest rate that wasn't the best. They said I should keep their financing for 4, 5, or 6 months, but I refinanced within a month to a much better rate.
I'm sure you can't build a 2015 on this site yet, but take a look at the Ford Partner site:
https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerweb/login.do
Plug in your company's partner code and you can build a truck and see the X-Plan price and compare it to what you think you could negotiate, then you might be able to make a better decision.
Edited: I just took a look and see X-Plan prices on a 2014 F150 of $1100 to $3700 below MSRP, depending on model. It also showed incentives you would be eligible for. I think you'll find the X-Plan pretty good!!

You got that right . . . Mention trade, basically you're gonna get shafted somewhere! That's when the #'s game start.
No trade, no problem. All the pricing is up front and in writing.
if you are trading, do several evals from kbb.com, autotrader.com, and blackbook.com (although a starting point for negotiations, no dealer is probably going to give you those values.....they go by wholesale values and what they can get/buy it for at an auction).......If there is a demand for your truck, and they have an instant buyer, you can possibl get a bit more on a trade.

I won't have a trade in as I'll still use my car I have now as a commuter. With that in mind it sounds like the X-Plan IS the better deal considering I probably wont have too much room to negotiate with it being a new model. I'll just have to keep saving my pennies and crossing my fingers that the aluminum body doesn't drive up the price too much.

I used X Plan on 2 new vehicles; 2010 Escape and 2011 F-150, both were custom orders.
Here is what I learned.
I got hosed on my trade with the Escape (purchased first). I was too upfront that I had an X Plan PIN and as mentioned before, I got screwed on my trade.
When I bought my F-150 I went to 2 different dealers and my game was the same. I told them I will be custom ordering an FX4 SCREW and left it at that. Next I wanted them to appraise my trade and put it in writing for me. The dealer with the best deal on my trade wins.
The war began and I would forward the dealers emails to each other, it was great!
Finally there was a stalemate and one dealer beat the other by $100 on my trade, so I went there. We sat down and built my truck, discussed rebates, etc.. Not until we got a final number did I give him my PIN. He was pissed, lol.
Im not in this to make friends, I just want a new truck.
In the end karma got me though. My truck is garbage and the dealer I bought it from has the single worst service dept in Ford history. So, while I could have still gotten a lemon from the other dealer, knowing what I know now I would have gladly paid the extra $100 to have a dealer with a knowledgeable service dept.
Food for thought.
