Default Would you Lift Your Truck if it Meant it Wouldn't Fit in the Garage Anymore?

With a 1.5" level, 285-65-20 KO2's I clear by about 1 maybe 2 inches when I pull in to the garage.

I'm really wanting to put a 4" lift on but it would mean not being able to fit in the garage.

I don't mind it getting rained on (doesn't snow here) but it is nice keeping it out of the Sun.

Anyone else have this issue? What did you do?

I did it with my 2006 F150, but won't do it with my 2013 Limited. One of the reasons though that the garage is one of my top factors when I start looking for my Texas home in about 4 months is I do want to eventually lift the truck.

I wouldn't want to keep my truck outside all of the time, especially in the winter.
But, I really never gave it much thought. Name: thinking.gif

In Texas I don't worry about cold/winter but the sun will chew a car up in 5 years time here. I solved my issue by building a carport to cover 4 cars and leave the garage open for working on stuff. Not sure if you have a front of house garage or rear garage so that could be an option.
Maybe even a side of garage carport if you have the room.
Not being in the sun makes my truck look the same as they day I bought. All plastic is deep black and paint is perfect.
Lifts are nice but not at the expense of trashing the rest of the truck. Again, I'm thinking long term ownership so my use of the word "trashing" is after 5- 10 years in the Texas sun. I see chalked up F150's all the time around here and whilst it may not bother most folks it does me.
FWIW.

Nope. My last truck was lifted so it wouldn't fit in the garage. That sucked when it was raining and I needed to work on it or if it was snowing. I have moved and added a few toys to my collection. The new house has a 2 car detached that has the wife's car and my show truck. The second detached garage is large but only has 1 small door. I lowered my fx4 4/5" and now it fits in there. I get soooo many more complements on how it looks lowered anyway. Its all about what you want.

Well, I have to admit it's leaving it out in the Sun that's keeping me lifting it at this point.

I've considered getting a cover for it but I'd expect that would be a real PITA taking it off and putting it on. Seems like all the dust that settles on it (the cover) would just end up on the truck after taking it off and putting it on all the time.

I'm even getting a couple of bids to see what it would cost to make the opening a foot taller.

That would be the most ideal and a lot cheaper than carport.
Hopefully its economical for you and you can lift your truck and have the garage too.
Good luck

Why don't you do a kelderman airbag lift. There the best of both worlds. There expensive but so is your lift kit and alterations to the garage. There here in Iowa. I have a buddy that works there. Check them out. Kelderman.com I believe.
